UPR 51 - Georgia
Monday 26 January, 14:30-18:00

Mr. President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Georgia and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

  1. Investigate and address allegations of human rights violations in the context of public protests.
  2. Repeal national legislation that limits the rights to freedom of expression and freedom of association and assembly.
  3. Introduce Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in and out of school settings.
  4. Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health (SRHR) services and information.
  5. Repeal discriminatory provisions in national legislation and ensure legal protection for persons of diverse SOGIESC.
  6. Legalize same sex marriage of consenting adults.
  7. Decriminalize gender-affirming medical care.

I wish Georgia all success for its review.

I thank you.
