Statement by Iceland

Mr. President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Mozambique and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

1. Strengthen existing legal frameworks to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.
2. Ensure cost-free access to safe abortion.
3. Guarantee access to comprehensive sexuality education in and out of school settings.
4. Eliminate child marriage.
5. Protect the right of married girls and adolescent mothers to remain in school.
6. Amend anti-discrimination legislation to include SOGIESC as prohibited grounds for discrimination.
7. Ensure legal recognition of same-sex couples.

We wish Mozambique all success for its review.
