Statement by Iceland

Thank you President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Paraguay and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

1. Strengthen existing legal frameworks to prevent and respond to gender-based violence, including femicide.
2. Protect and promote sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and ensure universal access to SRHR services and information.
3. Raise the minimum age of marriage to 18 years without exception.
4. Decriminalize abortion in all circumstances (and remove legal, administrative and practical barriers to accessing safe abortion services.)
5. Ensure access to comprehensive sexuality education in and out of school settings.
6. Adopt a comprehensive national anti-discrimination law that prohibits all grounds of discrimination, including on the grounds of diverse SOGIESC_._
7. Ensure legal recognition of same-sex couples.

We wish Paraguay all success for its review.
