Statement by Iceland

Mr. President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Seychelles and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

1. Intensify efforts to combat GBV by criminalizing all forms of violence against women, including marital rape.
2. Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health information and services, including family planning services.
3. Intensify efforts to improve institutional structures and mechanisms to protect children from sexual abuse.
4. Raise the minimum age of marriage to 18 years without exception.
5. Amend anti-discrimination legislation to explicitly cover SOGIESC as prohibited grounds of discrimination.
6. Ensure legal recognition of same-sex couples.
